Uber Driver in West Chester, PA, Accused of Locking Doors During Ride So Women Passengers Could Not Get Out

Police arrested Zacharias Georgalis, an Uber driver in the West Chester, PA, area, after two female passengers alleged that he prevented them from leaving his car. Georgalis, was charged with unlawful restraint and reckless endangerment, according to West Chester police.

West Chester police say the women were “visibly upset” when they were able to flag down an officer at 2:45 a.m. on Friday, September 13.

The women told police, their Uber driver had “deviated from the route of travel and repeatedly locked all of the doors as the victims attempted to free themselves from the moving vehicle.”

Police arrested Zacharias Georgalis, after the women identified his car nearby in an alley. He was charged and arraigned, and Georgalis was taken to Chester County Prison. His bail was set at $20,000.
