ABC affiliate WFAA Dallas reports that an SMU student was allegedly sexually assaulted by Uber driver Alejandro Contreras in the early morning hours of Friday, October 14, 2022.
The assault occurred on campus on the 3100 block of Daniel Avenue, also known as “sorority row.” According to the victim, Contreras assaulted her after she fell asleep in the car on her way home. She woke up suddenly after feeling Contreras’ hands between her legs.
After dropping the victim off at her sorority house, Contreras walked her to the front door and left. The victim then called her brother, who ordered the Uber. Her brother was able to track down Contreras, and he was quickly arrested by SMU police.
According to SMU, the investigation is ongoing. The full scope of Contreras’ crimes is unknown and there may be other victims who have yet to come forward.
